Ouachita Speaker Series: Corey Alderdice
Would you like to learn about... learning? The latest lecture in the Ouachita Speaker Series will provide valuable insight into the processes behind how and why we learn the way we do. Scheduled for December 4th, the talk will be held by the director of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, Corey Alderice. Don't miss out on this great opportunity!
The presentation, titled ”’A Whole New Mind’ for a Different Kind of School”, will examine the six competencies for “whole” brain learners who combine analytical thinking (left-brained) with artistic thinking (right-brained) to be the most effective possible learner. Director Alderdice will also discuss how ASMSA combines science, mathematics, arts, and humanities in an effort to help young thinkers realize their full potential as the next generation of entrepreneurs and visionaries.
Corey Alderdice has been the director of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts since May of 2012. During his tenure, the institution has earned high praise, including being ranked among the Top 15 schools by Newsweek, Top 10 by The Daily Beast, and among America’s top performing schools with elite students by The Washington Post.
Among his personal achievements, Mr. Alderice has been named a 2013 Bezos Family Foundation Educator Scholar and one of Arkansas Business' 2014 “40 Under 40” leaders in business, education and public policy. His work has also been highlighted in both Education Week and The Washington Post.
This event will be held on Friday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Ouachita Activities Building of the Ponce de Leon Center. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.
